Green Jobs and Green Education

Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies

No matter what you want to major in, no matter what kind of education you are going for, you seriously cannot get much better than Yale University. In the world of Ivy League schools, Yale University is second only to Harvard University. You can also get a great green education at Yale, specifically at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. Before looking further into this particular school, however, we are going to talk about what you can do to get the best possible green education.

When you work towards a green degree and career, you are doing more than embarking on something that will offer you stability and a lot of rewarding experiences. You are doing your part, whatever it may be, to save the environment - and to save the world for not just our generation, but for any number of future generations as well. There are environmental regulations and opportunities that affect an incredibly versatile spectrum of subjects and industries. Furthermore, because so many people and companies are going green these days, you are almost guaranteed to be successful.

There are so many environmental degrees that you need to begin by doing some research so that you will know which one is right for you. This can affect what school you ultimately choose to attend. Environmental science degrees and ecology degrees are extremely popular, but those two will not necessarily be the right choices for you. There are many, many other green related degrees. You might prefer something in health care, sustainability, Environmental Management, or any number of other subjects.

Whatever the case, it will definitely be best for you if you have a strong background in the sciences. Biology and biochemistry, chemistry itself, atmospheric sciences, botany, and ecology all offer the kind of solid education you need in preparation for a green education. Naturally, you will also need to take courses that focus on your specific specialty.

The Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Sciences offers Masters degrees in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Forestry, and Forest Sciences, as well as Ph.D. degrees in Forestry and Environmental Studies. There are also joint degree programs with many of Yale's schools, such as the Divinity School, the School of Architecture, the Law School, the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Public Health, the School of Management, and even Vermont Law School and Pace University School of Law. As well, there is a program for undergraduate students at Yale that can afford both a bachelor's degree and a master's can be earned.

Working for a green education at Yale University presents a fantastic opportunity, not in the least because the school not only owns but also manages its very own forest. It encompasses over ten thousand acres - almost eleven thousand, in fact - that cover areas in Connecticut, Vermont, and New Hampshire.

Needless to say, when you get a green education at Yale, you are getting one of the best educations out there. When you want to make a difference in the world, the school offers a fantastic opportunity.
